Brigádny general John Randolph Chambliss pochádzal of Virginia. Bol profesionálnym vojakom. University of vo West Pointe and graduated in 1853. In that year together with him študovalo another 15 budúcich generálov from obdobia občianskej the army. After štúdiu pôsobil ako inštruktor vo military school of cavalry at Carlisle. Even before the outbreak of the občianskej army odišiel from the army and dedicated sa plantážnictvu. At the same time slúžil vo virginskej domobrane in the rank of colonel.

Začiatkom občianskej army nastúpil to konfederačnej army. Chambliss velil 13. virginskemu jazdeckému regiment. By the end of the year 1862 slúžil under the command of general Dill in the region južne from the embankment James. Attended the sa campaign in Maryland and especially sa scored during stoppage prieniku jazdeckého corps unionistickej army cez rieku Rapphannock in apríli 1863. for this akciu zožal uznanie from nadriadených generálov J.E.B. Stuart and general Robert Edward Lee. In bitke pri Brandon Station bol injured general "Rooney" Lee. Chambliss after's taking over the jazdeckú brigade. His brigade bola súčasťou Stuartovho nájazdu in Pennsylvania and preto sa did not manage in time to come to the field of battle during Gettysburg. Attended the sa ešte ťažkého jazdeckého stretu in the third day fights during Gettysburg. After promotion to brigádneho general continued Chambliss in rôznych jazdeckých potýčkach when defending the územia Virginia before narastajúcim tlakom unionistických jednotiek. In August 1864 it vojnové šťastie left. Brigádny general Chambliss was killed at the head of his mužov during the act of jazdeckých potýčok, ktoré boli súčasťou other fights when Deep Bottom. Padol far Charles City Road on severnej side of the embankment, James. Buried in the family hrobke in the town of Emporia vo Virginia.
