Poznámka:
Note:
Viz stručná historie typu. The specification by the Air Ministry from 17 August 1937 included the creation of a three-men-crew bomber attack aircraft category AB3 (Assault-Bombardier) with cannon armament. One of the first firms which presented its draft was Dewoitine. It was a twin-engine all-metal monoplane with a longitudinal placement of the crew. Starting in October 1938 the firm's engineers, commissioned by the Air Force, had developed several options for a ground attacker, the most important among these were the D.770 and D.771.

The first flight was done in June 26, 1939 by test pilot Marcel Doret, who was dissatisfied with the flight performance of the new machine. Although the prototype had good speed performance, it was not sufficiently stable in flight. Tests of D.770.01 lasted for about 5 months, however, the specialists of the Dewoitine firm did not achieve significant improvements. At the end of 1939, D.770.01 was sent to the research center for wind tunnel tests. The results of these test only proved once again that this aircraft was far from being perfect and will not go to mass production. Program for further testing was decided to be interrupted, because at that time ground attackers Breguet Br.691 / 693 were produced in numbers, and for 1940, the appearance of large quantities of the multi-purpose bomber Bloch MB.175 was expected. These aircraft were carrying a large bomb load and had much better operational and technical performance.

Many D-770 AB3

Brief history:
France in the late thirties desperate for an extensive modernization of its air force, in the framework of this modernization created a fairly large number of prototypes and must say that several of these prototypes look very promising. One of these promising machines was just a battle bomber Many D-770.

The project of this aircraft started on the basis of the technical specifications A-51, which the French ministry of aviation in August 1937 sent just nationalized factory Many. Factory Emile Dewoitina was incorporated into the union factories SNCAM. The factory design team will soon submit its project, which was the ministry of aviation approved and immediately began construction of two prototypes. The first prototype with the designation of Many D-770 was powered by a liquid-cooled dvanáctiválci Hispano-Suiza 12Y and the second prototype, designated as the D-771, was powered by dvouhvězdicovými čtrnáctiválci Gnome-Rhône 14N 02/03 season.

Completed, and the fly was only the first prototype was completed with a two-month delay, [ he was 27. June 1939, behind the wheel sat a well-known test pilot Marcel Doret. During test flights it was found that přehřívaly both engines, it was due to too small coolers and that the aircraft is highly unstable. The technicians of the factory Many have tried these defects to remove, but despite many adjustments remained the aircraft unstable. The end of the year the aircraft was sent for testing in the wind tunnel, the result of these tests was the discovery that the airplane would be necessary to make still many other and major modifications the Second prototype, designated D-771 was completed in December, but [it was no longer. The ministry of aviation completely lost on these aircraft interest, supported the more versatile aircraft type Bloch MB.175B3 and Breguet Br.691 AB2 / 693 AB2, which carry larger bomb load. Both prototypes were stored at the factory airfield.

The aircraft was a twin-engine středoplošník with trojčlennou crew. The Pilot and the navigator sitting behind you in a long glazed cockpit, navigator and radio operator in one person, could in case of necessity of aircraft to pilot, through the second zapínatelného management. Bombardier/gunner had his place in the bottom of the fuselage. Spaces for the crew and at the same time, fuel tanks were protected by armor on the total weight of 150 kg. The fuel tank to accommodate the 1 in 200 liters of fuel and were located partly in the trunk and partially in the wings. The wings were jednonosníková, the vertical tail surfaces were double. An interesting feature was the armament, the pilot could have ground targets to attack one dvacetimilimetrovým cannon of the Hispano HS-404, cannon shot, together with two machine guns the MAC 1934, for greater efficiency, it was possible weapons bow of up to 15° down, the focus of these weapons was to allow a special sight Baille-Lemarie GH-39, unfortunately this weapons set was not re-adjusted so that during the tests, the aircraft built. The navigator could space up the plane to defend one machine gun MAC 1934 and bombardier bottom part for the aircraft defended dvojkulometem of the same type. The weapon was duplicated, because it was calculated also for the intense postřelování ground targets. In the fuselage under the wing was the bomb bay for eight padesátikilogramových pum.

In the event that the aircraft was accepted into the armaments it would have been the designation of Many D-770 supplemented by AB3, AB meant Assault-Bombardier (battle bomber) and number 3 here would mean the number of crew members.
