The Mk 60 CAPTOR is a US depth mine. Navy. The Mk 60 CAPTOR is one of the primary anti-submarine weapons, in other words, a deep-sea torpedo launcher. The Mk 60 mine is the basis for sophisticated anti-submarine warfare (ASW) of several mines designed to detect and sort out submarines. This mine can be used by the air force, navy and submarines. When a submarine is detected by the mine, it is acoustically detected (locked on) by the system, which searches for the enemy submarine. Once locked on, the adapted torpedo Mk 46 only attacks submerged enemy targets that do not respond with an acoustic signal. After launching, the torpedo circles and locks on, then attacks and disables the target.
