577/500 Magnum Express


British hunting cartridge designed for African hunting, introduced around 1880, later also worked with smokeless dust. The charge did not prevail and is now completely obsolete. The 31.1 g projectile reaches a muzzle velocity of 545 m/sec. The cartridge in the photo was made by Eley Brothers Ltd., London, England. On the right is a 7.92x57 round. Photo by the author.
