This 1974 cartridge was developed specifically for bench rest shooting. There are a group of ballistically and dimensionally similar bullets (5.6 PPC, 6mm BR Remington, 6mm Norma Br, 6mm PPC) and there was even a small war between Remington and Norma over the authorship of the bullets they developed.
