Fokker won a contract in Russia, and Emil was sent with the planes, to make sure that the machines pass the Russian přejímacími tests. When a Russian pilot refused a test flight in one of the aircraft, Emil with him took off and the test flight he attended in his place. Thanks to this, he was promoted to zalétávacího pilot. As zalétávací pilot tested, for example, the well-known Fokker D.XXI.

After the collapse of Germany he did many things, mostly working as a mechanic in every employment which he was able to get. When was created the berlin airlift, began working as a mechanic for 53. transport air squadron of the USAF at the base of the Rhein/Main in 1949. With the end of the berlin bridge moved to Canada, where his daughter lived.
