When an aircraft bears the sovereign designation of the USAF, it does not necessarily mean that this machine is actually owned by the United States. This is documented by this photograph, respectively the Phantom II flying in the foreground (s/n 75-0632). Its owner was, as documented by the tricolor at the top of the SOP, the German Air Force. This machine was one of ten new Phantoms F-4E, which Germany bought in 1975 for training its pilots in the USA. The 75-0632 machine, along with other German F-4Es, was assigned to the 20.TFTS lineup from 35.TFW at George Air Force Base. Due to the decision of the US Department of Defense in 1992 to cancel the airport in George, the 20th TTS was relocated to the 49th TFW, which operated from the Holloman base in New Mexico. German F-4E were decommissioned in 1997.

McDonnell Douglas F-4E-38-MC Phantom (s/n 68-0382) se do služeb USAF dostal v roce 1969, kdy začal působit u 479th TFW na George AFB.
