"Captain Sherbrooke, the captain of the destroyer HMS Onslow, was a senior officer commanding the destroyer protection of an important Atlantic convoy to Russia. On the morning of December 31, north of the North Cape, he came in contact with much stronger enemy forces attempting to destroy the convoy. Captain Sherbrooke led his destroyers to attack and closed the way for the enemy, four times the enemy tried to attack the convoy, but each time he was forced to retreat covered by a smokescreen, preventing the torpedo from threatening, at any moment Captain Sherbrooke attacked and drove him out of range and led him towards The battle lasted more than two hours, but after the first 40 minutes Onslow was hit and Captain Sherbrooke was severely wounded in the face and briefly lost sight of one eye, yet he continued to lead his ships until further hits by his ship. did not force them to withdraw, but before that he verified that the senior commanding officer had taken full control of the fight. performing this task, he was persuaded to leave the bridge and get treated. All this after the end of the fight. His courage, his strength of spirit and his calm and quick decisions are fully inspiring to him. Thanks to his leadership and exemplary, the convoy was rescued and reached safely to the destination port. "
