295 (300) Rifle Rook


An English black powder cartridge introduced by Holland & Holland sometime between 1870-74. Despite having dual markings, it has the same dimensions in both cases. The cartridge was also used in pistols and revolvers. The 5.12 g bullet has a muzzle velocity of 335 m/sec. The cartridge in the picture was made by Eley Brothers Ltd. of London, England, on the right is the 7.62 x 39 cartridge.
