In 1933, the prototype P-6E, 39-374, returned to Buffalo for further adjustments. The first of these was the installation of the V-1570F engine with the F-2F turbocharger located on the right side of the bow, the second was the replacement of the open cockpit with a closed cabin. In this form, the 39-374 was renamed the XP-6F, brand name Model 35C (and added another name to the not-so-short list - previously it was named P-11, YP-20 a XP-6E). It was returned to the army in March 1933. Due to its increased weight, its maximum ground speed dropped to 312.2 km/h, but rose to 362.1 km/h at 4572 m and possibly could be higher, due to engine cooling problems, but tests at higher altitudes did not take place, so access is not known, and eventually led to the termination of tests. Then the XP-6F was to get a standard 578kW V-1570-55 without a turbocharger and redesignated the P-6F.
