Despite the success of the 150 mm howitzer model K1, the Czechoslovak army decided that the weapon did not exactly meet its requirements. As the next stage of development was the K4 model, which already fully complied with the specifications. K4 had many features in common and parts with K1, but mainly had a shorter barrel. This reduced the total weight of the weapon, which was very advantageous for not fully motorized CSA. The K4 was equipped with wheels with tires and was fully adapted for towing. The K4 model was adopted by the Czechoslovak army under the name howitzer vz.37.

After the occupation of the Czechs by the Germans, the Wehrmacht took the howitzers for tests directly from the Pilsen-based Škoda. The cannons exceeded their expectations. Therefore, it was decided to continue production. The designation of the howitzer in the German army was 15-cm schwere Feldhaubitze 37 (t). It was the standard weapon of some artillery batteries attacking France. They also served on the Eastern Front. Some took part in the fighting in the East in 1944, but were then withdrawn to the Balkans.

The Škoda bolt-action rifle, developed from 1930 by the Akciová společnost, formerly Škoda Plzen, with the first modifications intended for export to the Iranian Empire, the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, the Kingdom of Romania and the Republic of Turkey.
The Houfnice consisted of a single transport unit, which was supposed to be motor-traction only. The steel jacketed barrel with breech was mounted on a cradle with liquid brake, air recoil and strut balancers, the cradle was captured by pins on the upper halyard and the latter pivotally mounted on the lower halyard, the arms of which were deployable. The swept axle was fitted with disc wheels with tyres and hinged supports to relieve the wheels in firing position.
The barrel was pulled back during transport; the type of tractor was not yet determined until the fall of 1938.
An order for over 180 howitzers was placed in February 1938, with rearmament planned from February 1939.

Tiny clarification:

K1 intended for export to Turkey was projected in the years of 1931-1932 and the year 1936 also delivered. The same type of howitzers ordered and Iran in 1939 and in 1940 he was delivered.

A slightly modified version of the howitzer sometimes referred to in the literature as the K2 was in the years 1937-1939 delivered to Yugoslavia and Romania..
