On 30.07.2012 will be inaugurated the construction of the fourth submarine of the class Borej (Project 955A), said the commander of the Russian navy vice-admiral Viktor Čirkov.
Submarines of this class are intended to replace the obsolete submarines Project 941 Akula (code NATO Typhoon) and Project 667BDR Kalmar (code NATO Delta III) and the Project 667BDRM Dolphin (code NATO Delta IV).
This submarine will bear the name of prince Vladimir (Knyaz Vladimir, Князь Владимир), the other three of this class are named Yuri Dolgorukij (tested) Alexander Nevsky and Vladimir Monomach (both under construction).
