Company Keystone Aircraft Corp. it was founded in 1920 in Ogdensburgu, the state of New York, Thomas Huffem and Elliot Daland, who shortly thereafter renamed after himself. Thomas Henri Huff was in the years 1917-1919 šéfkonstruktérem company Standard Aircraft Corp., where they also met with Dallandem. Compared to their later main activities, the construction of bombers, the Huff-Daland started as a transport company with a flying boat, to shortly thereafter began building a light sport and training aircraft number of Petrel. For the army air force built several training prototypes, such as TA-2 and TA-6, and in the end even a small series of AT-1. From the beginning, in the construction using all-metal construction of the fuselage and the other at its time of advanced technology, some machines had the wings, even with the then popular profile Götingen, taken from , the Fokker D.VII. Even in 1923, but it has produced the prototype, which became the basis for the production of the company until its demise - light bomber XLB-1. Šéfkonstruktérem of the company was at this time C. T. Porter, a few months here but picking up experience and James McDonnell.

In 1921 was established as a subsidiary company, Huff Daland Aero Corp., a commercial company trying to sell their new three-digit aircraft, and in 1924 she founded in Macon in the Georgia branch of Huff Daland Dusters, an operating air dusting. This company soon moved to Louisiana, eventually spun off and became the basis for the airline Delta Air Lines. Even the parent company has moved, in 1925, found a new headquarters in pensylvánském Bristol, strategically placed between the river Delaware and the railroad. Here then originated their most famous product, the bombers with a belligerent names of the Cyclops, the Pirate and the Panther, which for the u.s. army air force put up about 200 pieces. Keystone has even had time to attend more of the period of mania, attempts to cross the Atlantic. Her K-47 Pathfinder, derived from the bomber LB-5, but crashed and killed its crew.

In 1927, the company, Huff-Daland, who finally received a larger amount of orders, needed financial backing. You provided and the owner reorganized the company to become a new york brokerage firm Hayden, Stone & Co., that gave the company a new name, Keystone Aircraft Corp. In this form the face the company a time of great change in the aviation industry, which came after 1928. At this time they started to form several large blocks, gradually unifying a large part of the still fragmented us airline industry. Some companies get this put into the name - Consolidated Aircraft, or United Aircraft & Transport Corp., the organization set up a firm Boeing and containing also necessary to engine manufacturer Pratt & Whitney. A similar block of a large aerospace manufacturer and motorářské of the company arose soon after in the form of concern for Curtiss-Wright. Keystone Aircraft into the merger mania joined in October 1928 by purchasing the company Loening, feeding primarily in the production of amphibious flying boats for the U.S. Navy. The company was transformed into a division, and moved to Bristol, while in its original premises to a new company formed by the group of former employees, headed by a certain engineer Grummanem. Probably even this year but ended autonomy for the Keystone, in which it bought a share of the company Wright Aeronautical, and through which in 1929 became part of the already mentioned concern Curtiss-Wright.

Although the prospects for the company after the acquisition of a powerful "protector" with a network of foreign customers and experienced export division looked pretty good, but not the Keystone to avoid the consequences of the economic crisis. Even in 1930, managed to get an order for 18 flying boats PK-1, and on 26 amfibií Loening OL-9, after their completion but to miss work and the company in 1932, decided on the closure of the branch. The factory in Bristol, first received a start-up company Fleetwings, which here probably already several years was the "sublease", and since 1934 at this address was the home of another of today have already forgotten, but for its time the big names, Hall Aluminum Aircraft.
