S-LOV-CBRN
The S-LOV-CBRN light armoured vehicle kit is designed for chemical and radiological reconnaissance underway and chemical, biological and radiological reconnaissance by in situ observation (CBRN = chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear).
The asset consists of a LOV-CBRN reconnaissance vehicle and a P-LOV-CBRN trailer. The LOV-CBRN is based on the chassis of an Italian light armoured vehicle M65E19WM LMV - LONG. It is equipped with an on-board information system and a special chemical superstructure for CBRN reconnaissance purposes. Protection of the crew against the effects of chemical toxic agents, biological warfare agents and radioactive dust is provided by a combined overpressure protection subsystem. For self-defence, a weapon station ZSRD 07 is mounted on the superstructure ceiling and operated by the commander. It includes a PKT machine gun, smoke grenade launchers and sensors for laser and microwave radiation detection and indication. The vehicle carries a reconnaissance robot Orpheus-AC2. A P-LOV-CBRN trailer on a CL ARM 35 LMV chassis is used to transport external special chemical body equipment and selected logistics material.
The equipment of the vehicle allows: - automatic collection, processing and evaluation of information from the superstructure sensors; - chemical, radiation, visual and acoustic surveys of hazardous locations by means of a remotely controlled robot Orpheus-AC2 without the need for the crew to disembark to operate the robot; - delineation of the boundaries of hazardous contaminated areas and warning nearby units of the risk of CBRN contamination without the need for a crew; - automatic production of a scope-optimised NBC 4 report (with possible manual editing) and its dispatch to a superior commander.
The kit can be used as a unit at the observation post, or the vehicle and trailer can be used separately, when the need arises to conduct mobile reconnaissance at one location and monitoring at another location simultaneously.
The basic automation element of the vehicle and the main information source for the crew is the on-board information system PIS. In conjunction with the observation subsystem, it allows the commander to visually observe the area of interest. Using data, it provides the crew with information on the current CBRN situation at the vehicle position, the immediate chemical, radiation, visual and acoustic situation at the reconnaissance robot site and the current CBRN situation at the position of the payload monitoring module. It provides crew warning of chemical, biological and radioactive contamination. It controls the operation of the combined overpressure protection subsystem. It enables automatic manual compilation of CBRN situation reports, their automatic and manual dispatch via radio station or cable network to the superior commander. The basic input and output element for operating the components of the PIS is the graphical user interface of the commander's touch screen display unit.
External CBRN reconnaissance equipment is used to augment the detection capabilities of the vehicle at the developed observation post. The suite consists of a payload weather station, a payload CBRN monitoring module, and a payload potentially biological aerosol detector. It is designed for remote unattended monitoring of chemical, biological, radiation and meteorological situations. It also allows local operation with operator reading and data processing. Measured data can be transmitted wirelessly or by Ethernet cable.
The development of the S-LOV-CBRN and the production of its prototype took place between 2009 and 2012 and Ministry of Defence cost CZK 98,000,000. The asset was first presented to the public at IDET 2013. The cost of the prototype is CZK 66,000,000 excluding VAT (of which the bare chassis M65E19WM LMV - LONG cost CZK 12,373,000 excluding VAT). The S-LOV-CBRN was inducted into the 311th Radiation, Chemical and Biological Protection Battalion in 2014.

Deputy minister of defense for the management of the section of armaments and acquisitions the Ministry of defence of the CZECH republic Daniel Koštoval together with the director of the Military research institute, p. p. Paul Čudou on 30. August 2018 signed a contract for the supply of a total of 80 light armored vehicles for conducting radiation, chemical and biological survey in the total value 5,111 billion Czk with VAT.
Cars will be delivered in the following versions: WITH-CATCHING-CBRN EVEN and S-LOV-CBRN II, in both cases after 40 pieces. As a basis serves the chassis IVECO LMV 2 in the extended two-seater version intended for mounting of special superstructures. The cabin crew will have ballistic protection to at least level 2 according to STANAG 4269 and protiminovou protection of at least level 2a according to STANAG 4269. The superstructure will not be ballistic protected, locally, will be protected only its key elements. Vehicle S-LOV-CBRN AND comes from the prototype S-HUNTING-CBRN-established in the arsenal of the Army of the Czech republic. A means will be adjusted to take account of the removal of non-conformities detected after the military tests WITH the-HUNTING-CBRN and implemented modifications based on the experience with the use of a prototype S-LOV-CBRN, including the inclusion of new technological instrumentation. Both types of vehicles will be equipped with a type-identical elements of the systems of protection of crew, such as filtration and ventilation system, system of air supply to the masks of the crew, the system of detection of radiation exposure, mobile camouflage system and remotely operated weapons station, including the weapons used.
The vehicle radiation, chemical and biological survey will be used across the whole Army of the Czech republic. The supply should be according to the contract implemented during the years 2020 to 2022.
