Major Friedrich-Karl MÜLLER

Born on 4 December 1911 in Sulzbach.
In 1934 he completed his pilot training and from 1937 served with Lufthansa. At the beginning of the war during the attack on Poland he flew as a transport pilot in the 5th /KG z. b. V. 172 .
From February 1940 he served as a sightless flying instructor at Blindflugschule 4./KG 50, armed with four-engine He 177 bombers.

His long experience in flying without sight did not escape the attention of "Hajo" Herrmann, who chose him in 1943 for a unit formed to implement the night fighter tactic "Wilde Sau". After the formation of JG 300, Muller became its technical officer and from the end of November led the 1st JG 300. By that time he had already had 19 night kills.
Beginning on 1 January 1944, he formed l./NJGr. 10 from the core of his Staffel and tested on-board radar equipment in single-engine Bf 109 and Fw 190 fighters. On 25 August, he became commander of I./NJG 11, also verifying radar equipment and later armed with Me 262.
In late 1944/45, he took part in night attacks against railway lines and supply columns. His last two kills came on the night of 20-21 February 1945.
He flew 52 combat sorties and scored 30 victories.
He flew, among others, the Bf 109G-14, G-10 and Knight's Cross 27.7. 1944
