Burgus
This is a watchtower on the roman border (limit), was built between kastely in places with a sufficient view. The oldest burgusy were of wooden construction, their form can be reconstructed both on the basis of archaeological research and then also, according to the reliefs on the Trajánově column and by less distinct towers with galériemi atop a column Mark Aurélia in Rome. They were surrounded by a circular hrotitým moat and palisade. Later replaced with a stone tower with a square base large, from 4 to 6 meters. The entrance to them was a possible wooden staircase or rope ladder. Their height was determined by the nature of the terrain. Should be from one to three floors. The crew of these towers are among themselves they were talking using dýmových or light signals. The romans build and advance stone burgusy on the left bank of the Danube.
