In 1933, the command of the Austrian army placed an order for the company Austro-Daimler to develop and manufacture a vehicle for transporting soldiers, ammunition and possibly towing light field parts. The development of the vehicle took about a year, with the Austrian engineers choosing the wheel-crawler concept. This allowed, compared to a purely crawler chassis, faster movement on roads, respectively. solid surface on the wheels and in the case of use in heavier terrain, a crawler chassis could be used. The vehicle was given the designation ADMK "Mulus" ( A ustro- D aimler M otor [b ] K arette).

Prototype, resp. the first vehicles produced, had a crawler chassis consisting of two large-diameter wheels with rubber rims. Between them was a special clutch, used to attach the rear pair of car-type wheels. In the series version, the crawler had four smaller wheels combined in two into trolleys. The vehicle was powered by a petrol, air-cooled, four-cylinder Austro-Daimler FB 12/20 with an output of 18-20 units at 1,400 rpm. The transmission of engine power was provided by a mechanical four-speed transmission. Space for one driver and two transported soldiers, respectively. the cargo was opened. Some vehicles had a mounting in the loading area to hold a machine gun or 47 mm anti-tank cannon.

On paved surfaces, the vehicle was able to move on removable wheels with a diameter of 18 inches (457 mm). During the transition to unpaved terrain and the need for a belt drive, either both pairs or only the rear pair of wheels were dismantled and placed on the rear of the body. By dismantling both pairs of wheels, the length of the vehicle was reduced from 3680 mm to 2900 mm, the width from 1700 mm to 1360 mm. The height of the vehicle on wheels was 1300 mm, on belts 1460 mm. After removing the wheels, the height of the vehicle was increased by the wheels placed on the vehicle. The wheels were changed manually by lifting one side first, removing both wheels, and then repeating the procedure on the opposite side. The weight of the empty vehicle was 1,450 kg, the maximum permissible weight was 1,730 kg. On the road with the wheels fitted, the vehicle was driven by turning the front wheels, on the belts by braking the belts. The turning radius on the wheels was 8.4 m, on the tracks 2.1 m. When riding the wheels, the vehicle reached a maximum speed of 45 km/h, on the tracks 17 km/h.

Production began in 1935 and ended in 1938 after the production of 334 vehicles.

Following the Austrian embassy, ADMK vehicles were accepted into the Wehrmacht's armament and were assigned the WARK designation ( Wehrmacht Aufbau Rader Ketten Antrieb). In the German army, these machines were most often used with a removed rear pair of wheels as semi-track tractor parts up to 105 mm. In order to increase the number of transported soldiers (most often towed artillery operators), new all-metal bodies were mounted on machine parts in 1940. A driver and four soldiers sat in the tub-shaped four-door body created in this way. The other two soldiers could be transported on small seats between the front wheels.

One copy of this unconventional vehicle has survived, even in running order, to this day. It is located in Escola de Material Bélico in Rio de Janeiro. It arrived in Brazil as a demonstration in 1940 through Baron Ludwig Kummer, along with other vehicles manufactured by Steyr-Daimler-Puch AG, represented by Baron Kummer.
