When approaching for a landing on the airport Hardwick, crashed aircraft private owner Maurice Hammond North American P-51D Mustang "Janie", registration G-MSTG, v. no 124-48271, while the aircraft was significantly damaged, the separation of the wings and engine from the hull, as well as some parts of the GTC, the aircraft also caught fire, but the fire itself did not cause more damage. 80-year-old pilot of the accident survivors, the passenger suffered serious injuries and was air transported to a hospital. Aircraft made in 1945, previously served in the USAF (or USAAF) under no 45-11518 and the RNZAF under no NZ2427.
