Michael Gladych's report on the battle of February 21, 1944 (8th and 9th victories - 1st and 2nd in 56 fighter groups)

Combat report
Captain M. Gladych
Event type: Combat
Date: 21 February 1944
Unit: 61st Fighter Squadron, 56. fighter group
Time: 15:40
Location: above Zuider Zee
Weather: 5/10 clouds at 2,000 feet (600 m)
NL type: Me-109 F or G
enemy losses: 2 destroyed Me-109
Description:

I flew to Halstead White 4 as a lieutenant number. Funcheon at 19,000 feet (5,800 m). At about 15:35 I saw 5 Me-109s attacking a lone B-17 tku. I couldn't contact anyone on the radio because it was deaf, so I started chasing. My commander fired at one of the enemy planes and it overturned and sank. I followed him down in a wide descending spiral. At approximately 4,000 feet (1,200 m), I was attacked by two Me-109s flying overhead. I managed to avoid their fire by turning and transitioning to attack with subsequent descent. The enemy planes split and each flew in the opposite direction. I chose it on the left. After a brief chase, I approached about 400 yards and opened fire. [1: b) aaaaaa] (1) I began to climb, trying to join my squadron, but when I was 3,000 feet (900 m), I saw I'm 2,000 feet (600 m) above another Me-109, which was also climbing. I pushed all the levers forward and turned on the water injection. As I approached, the enemy plane capsized to the right. I opened fire and the enemy plane went down. I followed him, but he didn't fire here again because I was very low and chose a dive. However, I saw the enemy aircraft fire from all the main and then disappeared in clouds or fog that was less than 1,500 feet (450 m), still sinking. (2) I climbed to 12,000 feet again ( 3,650 m) and I saw a lone B-17, who accompanied me halfway across the sea.

I claim 2 destroyed Me-109s.

I Flew on the position of the Keyworth White 4 colonel. Gabreski. As we turned for the last box of bombers, he saw four enemy planes flying from the bombers. We followed them and the enemy planes split into two pairs. The two turned to the right and two letělí directly to Angers. I saw the colonel. Gabreski as I follow the first pair and so they chased the other. I couldn't contact my manager, because the radio was turned off. Near here is the last of a pair, when I noticed that it's Me-109tky. When I approached to 800 yards, the enemy aircraft pulled. To my amazement, one of the Me-109tek flew off the canopy and the pilot bailed out. I sent him a short burst from a distance of 600 yards. Circled around the pilot, but he showed no signs of life and the chute didn't open. The plane crashed about 5 miles south of Angers. Then here to the north, climbed, and joined their squadron. Abandoned Me-109tka looked in perfect condition. No smoke, no fire.

I Flew to the position of Red 3 kapt. Rutkowskiho. We circled over the convoy moving along the road, when I saw 4 aircraft, which he thought was a Me-109. I called the commander of the squadron and swooped on them. After two minutes of pursuit, I found out that this is a P-51čky. I started to spin in an attempt to connect to its wing, when I saw 4/5 of the Me-109 flying east at a height of 100 feet. The closest of the enemy aircraft you become aware of me against the earth and went to meet me at the mirném descent. The rest went into mild, šíroké, climbing turn. Curled up here to the attacking aircraft and he had no trouble to get close to him. Buttoned here the injection of water and after a few seconds I started an enemy plane to overcome. Slipped in here on the outside, then I kicked the rudder and got behind the enemy's tail. Fired here, I haven't seen intervention, but the enemy reacted more utáhnutou the corner. More here předsadil and fired another shot. The enemy aircraft spun and fell to the ground. Meanwhile, the rest of the enemy aircraft shot down 8 P-51, which approached from the east. I tried to attack another group of Me-109. Drew here, closer to him from underneath and from behind and fired here a short burst at last. Kraut vypoušel a little bit of black smoke, but flew on. I had to leave the duel because of the small supply of fuel. In the ground floor of the flight here went home.

I lay claim to one destroyed Me-109tku.

Reporting Michael Gladycha about combat of 21. September 1944 (17. and 18. kill - 9. and 10. at the 56 fighter group)

Battle report
Major M. Gladych
action Type: Martial
Date: 7. June 1944
Unit: 61. fighter squadron, 56. fighter group
Time: 12:40
Location: 15 miles northeast of Houdan
Weather: cloudiness 9/10 at 3 000 feet
Type NL: Two FW-190
enemy losses: 2 destroyed FW-190
Description:

Led here a squadron of the Whippet (squadron And, 61. FS) and we did a high-rise cover. Without any problems we were guarding the allocated area, directed Tacklinem. As we flew over Arnhem, Fairbanks flew through the clouds. We flew last. Apparently Fairbanks ran into some enemy planes flying in the country, because here a mile in front of us saw Lufberryho circle. Impressed here the throttle forward and soon we saw 2 FW-190's trying to escape from the grip. Me and my number, we chose the head of the machine and the second pair took his number. As we approached to 300 yards, he dragged down, veered to the right and signaled his heading to shot it down. Immediately approached him and fired a short burst. When he saw here hits around the cockpit and nose first out of control, barreling at 50 feet. We had to cut it to the right, I didn't see the impact, but when I get there after a few seconds, looked up, I saw fire and smoke.

We climbed to 1,000 feet and widely we circled and looked for other targets. Beheld here the plane, I thought, that's my number 3 how to find us at an angle of 60° approaching from behind. A fraction of a second later, he realized his mistake, he was. this FW-190. The radio was screwed and couldn't here your heading to say it broke loose, so I pulled them down himself, he turned on the water injection and fired at the enemy at the same time as he fired at my number. I've seen interventions, and the pilot jumped out. I haven't seen the parachute and so here after a long turn headed west.

In that moment, it was after a fight and saw here a group forming in front of me. Ascended here above the clouds. North of Gorinchen here he saw two "bogies" flying to the north. Flew down here on them and catch them before they disappeared in the clouds. They were FW-190tky. Fired here on the last plane and I saw him blazing. Then I ascended and continued on course to base.

Confirming the destruction of an enemy aircraft my number two, por. Kylerem. I have claimed two destroyed the FW-190 (in the air).
