According to the 18 January 1945 order of the group engaged in the development of equipment using the infrared spectrum, the development and mass production of a mobile reconnaissance vehicle was to be focused on the installation of the B.G.1251 infrared scanner/infrasight on the Bergepanzer 38(t) platform. This vehicle was to carry the markings "UHU II".
