Prototype tested in 1959.
The principle is to fire the missile above the water surface where it heads for the target area after igniting the main engine. There, the charge separates from the rocket and drops. It can destroy or damage everything within a 6.5 km radius.
The charge has a yield of 1-5 kt.
These weapons were carried on board, among others.
SSN-637 Sturgeon, SSN-688 Los Angeles, SSN-594 USS Permit.
