BRM-3 Rys

Combat reconnaissance vehicle designed to carry out independent reconnaissance and combat activity in the rear of the enemy to a depth of 100 km, in exceptional cases even more.

The vehicle being was engineered in the second half of the eighties in Rubcovském the engineering of the plant as a substitute of machines BRM-1. The main constructor of the type called Object 501, which was based on the combat vehicles of infantry BMP-3, became the Alexander Prokopovič. Under the designation BRM-3 Rys began to be in the arsenal of the Russian army introduced since the early nineties. Vehicles of this type in the Russian army operates only a very limited amount, while the BRM-3 are deployed mainly in departments stationed in Siberia.

The chassis of the vehicle form on each side of the six road wheels supplemented by three guide pulleys. The first, the second and the sixth pair of road wheels has a hydropneumatic shock absorbers. The front is placed the idler in the back then the driving wheel. The hull is compared to the BMP-3 a bit higher, in the middle of its front part is located the habitat of the driver.

In the central part of the vehicle is placed in a fully rotating turret, where is located the workplace of the commander and the gunner. In the tower there is mounted an automatic like shotgun cannon 2A72 30-caliber mm, its stabilization ensures the system 2E52-1. The gun can destroy lightly armoured vehicles to a distance of 1 500 m, "soft" targets, then to 4 000 m. there is a total of 600 pieces of 30 mm ammunition. With cannon super machine gun PKT caliber 7.62 mm with a supply of 2 000 pieces of ammunition. Armament crews, made up of six machine guns, six grenades and one PTRK.

The shooter for targeting of ground targets using gun sight BPK-2-42 with day/ night channel, when shooting at aerial targets is applied sight PPB-2.

In the rear of the car is located the motor-gear space with fuel tanks. The drive unit consists of a water-cooled diesel engine UTD-29 with a maximum output of 368 kW. Compared to the original BMP-3 were removed to the rear double doors.

BRM-3 Rys can move in the water with the help of the hydrodynamic system with a pair of water-jet. of course there is filtro-ventilation equipment, thanks to which the vehicle can operate in an environment contaminated WMD. Defensive equipment of the vehicle following zadýmovcí grenade launchers caliber 81 mm fired from a pair of třínásobných launchers 902V.

Reconnaissance equipment consists of radar 1RL133-1 Credo-1M, which is designed to search for both stationary and moving ground targets (the range on the tanks and OT - 8 000 to 10 000 m; range per person - 3 000 to 4 000 km). Other equipment consists of a laser range finder 1D14, termovizoru 1PN71 and exploratory system 1PN61. The connecting means consist of radio stations R-163-50U (UHF), R-163-50K (KV) and the device a selective call R-012M. The crew has available navigation equipment TNA-4-6, gyrokompas 1G50 and topopřipojovač 1T129. As a source of el. energy (when it is turned off UTD-29) is the aggregate performance of 4 kW.
