17. February 1943 was the U-205 spotted in the Mediterranean sea northwest of the city Derna the crew of the bomber, Bristol Blenheim the south african air force and subsequently severely damaged by the depth charges of the destroyer HMS Paladin. The crew was forced the submarine to leave. Abordážní group HMS Paladin managed to from the submarine to pick up the documents and radio equipment.
Corvette HMS Gloxinia try and drag the submarine to the beach, but the U-205 sank about 1000 yards from the coast.
