LARS 2 (Leichtes Artillerie Raketensystem 2)

In 1981, it was the command of the Bundeswehr to the view that there is a need to modernise the existing rocket launchers LARS 1 established in the arsenal of the German army. The most noticeable change of the modified system LARS 2 compared to its predecessors became the new machine the bottom - sedmituna N4520 6x6 company MAN. Other modifications included improvements to own a rocket launcher and increase the range of missiles. Rockets can be fitted with an armor-piercing warhead for the elimination of nepancéřovaných targets and infantry, head AT-2 with five anti-tank mines or zadýmovací head. In the driver's cab is located, the system REPAG 2 (Richt-, Einstell-Prüf - und Abfeuergerät)serving to guide stake against his rocket launcher. In the boxes behind the cab then is the accessories and tools for basic repairs and maintenance. Firing from rocket launchers LARS 2 is controlled through shooting radar FERA. All systems LARS 2 have been upgraded to the year 1984. Each division of the German federal army had one artillery battalion with eight bateriem systems LARS 2. Since 1990 are in the ranks of the Bundeswehr gradually replaced by rocket launchers MARS.
