In 1890 the cartridge was upgraded to the Model 90, which was labored with smokeless ball powder and the cartridge case was lengthened to 52.2 mm. In 1892 the powder was changed to smokeless ball powder and the cartridge case shortened to 50.2 mm. This cartridge was designated as M1893. The cartridge was adopted into the armament of the Bulgarian army in 1903 and was also introduced in Greece. Brass cartridge, during the First World War also steel, copper plated. The bullet has a lead core and a steel, copper-nickel clad, jacket.
