- Destroying the enemy's live force, both uncovered and in field shelters,
- destroying and silencing the firepower of enemy infantry,
- destroying fire-resistant shelters and other field structures,
- engaging enemy artillery and enemy mechanized assets,
- shooting out passages in minefields and wire roadblocks.
The use of Czechoslovak and Soviet ammunition was permitted for firing the 122 mm howitzer vz.38.
Howitzer composition :
- Barrel with breech, The barrel consists of the breech, the shell, and the bolted breech butt. The breech is bolt-on with an execentric hole for the firing pin firing pin.
- The fuze, The fuze consists of :

- braking device - normal length of the slide is 960-1065 mm max 1100 mm,
- top hatch
- aiming and measuring controls,
- balancing mechanism,
- shield : fixed and movable part,
- top-sail carrier with two deployable luffing arms,
- sprung axle with wheels.
- Sights - independent drum sight + PG gun sight. .
The howitzer is transported in a tow behind a motor vehicle T 111, P V3S, T 138 VN. Transport speed :
- road : up to 50 km / h.
- off-road : up to 20 km/h.
