JAWA 500 OHC

Legendary, today priced machine in its time, the idea of "cestovně sports bike" for the working class. The development was started already in the time of the second world war. Just after the war, however, the planned development of four stroke engines retreated the mass production of two-stroke cheap engines and parts motorcycle of the public brought a great disappointment, especially with the onset of motorcycle Jawa 350 type 12. In these třistapadesátek it was assumed that it will be a four-stroke machines. Despite two functional prototypes from companies Jawa 350 OHC type 16 and Ogar (and approved, 1000pcs planned production machine Ogar 350) rolls out the first 350tka with a two-stroke engine. Four-stroke 500 OHC began to develop already in 1947, the first prototype was ready in 1948 (the engine is in many respects different from type 00). In 1950, he had finished the final prototype and subsequently in the year 1951 started the serial production. The first performance to the public took place in the press, when 28. 1. 1950 published the World of Engines, that the novelty will be presented at the upcoming may the Prague fair. New Jawa 500 OHC in the prototype design graced the front page of the magazine Motorcycle no 20. In today's time (2017-2019)get the price of machines traded on the commercial market ranges from 450,000 to 600,000,- Czk. In 2005 the price ranged from 100,000 (type 02) to 150.000,- for the model of the "snail".
Jawa 500 OHC is produced in three basic designs
Type 00 "Snail" and prototypes

* Regarding the number of pieces produced can you find the numbers from 7000 to 8000 pieces. A more accurate number 6768 plus 200 pieces of the first series of "Snail".

The dramatic development of this motorcycle, the image of time, the influence of the "reactionary elements" in the construction and the final victory of "the people" is processed in period film directed by Martin Frič with the name "five hundred". This drama has a length of 84 minutes, was created in 1949 and the author of the script is Frantisek Vlcek st. Movie is good to see already for interesting shots of motorcycles. Machines Jawa 250 Perak are presented here as a competitive machine "Meteor". Motorcycles Jawa 500 OHC all versions were mainly used components of the former Ministry of internal affairs and SNB (a few nice photo of machines from the SNB can be found here www.blueknights.eu ). A rarity is that the same type of machine used and mr Mašín. According to their testimony (it was even in one TV show) during one of the chase with their OHC-čkem hid in the police workshops, and they kept him there to fix it!
