The prototype of the N2 radio station designed for battalion and regimental communications was built in 1935. By the outbreak of war in September 1939, the Polish Army had received around 1,400 of these radios, produced in the N2/S (samochodowa - automobile), N2/T (taczankowa - taczanka) and N2/B (biedkowa - for two-wheeled carriages) versions.
The N2/S radios were mainly installed on Polski Fiat 508/518 off-road passenger cars. It allowed to maintain telegraph and telephone communication in the band from 2250 to 6750 kHz at a distance of up to 10 km (telephone communication) and up to 25 km (telegraph communication).
