New zealand authorities have launched a gun buyback, prohibited after the the march attack in the city of Christchurch. The government on redemption of the allocated 208 million new zealand dollars (3.1 billion dollars), the owners of the weapons will offset up to 95 percent of their purchase price.
The law adopted in April of this year was forbidden ownership of a "semi-automatic weapons in the military style", which is in the country, an estimated 14 300 units. Prohibition does not apply to semi-automatic rifle caliber .22 capacity less than 10 rounds, and shotguns with a magazine in less than 5 rounds.
New Zealand currently 300 000 of the holders of a firearms license own a total of 1.5 million firearms.
