45. IAP (later 100th GIAP)
At the outbreak of the war, the regiment was based in the territory of the Caucasus Military District. In early 1942, it operated in the vicinity of Kerch and its pilots flew Yak-1 fighters. In October it was withdrawn to Ordzhonikidze and rearmed with Curtiss P-40 Kittyhawk aircraft. He returned to combat in February 1943, when he was detached to the North Caucasus Front. This was followed by actions over the Kuban River and the Sea of Azov, which lasted until July 1943, when the regiment received P-39 aircraft. Late in the year the unit operated over Mariupol and the Donbas area. In early 1944, actions continued along the Black Sea coast with the liberation of the Crimea and the Yas-Kishinev operation. In the summer of 1944, the regiment was transferred to the 1st Ukrainian Front and participated in the Ivovo-Sandomierz operation, as part of the 9th GIAD (formerly 216th SAD).
