91. IAP
The regiment was based in the vicinity of Kiev in June 1941. Its pilots flew the I-153 biplanes and from the beginning of the war operated as part of the Southwest Front. In April 1943, the regiment is transferred to the Voronezh Front, armed with Yak-9s, and fights over Kursk and Kiev in the summer and late that year as part of the 256th Fighter Air Division. During 1944 it is combat deployed in the Tarnopol-Brod and Lvov-Sandomierz operations. After them it is rearmed to Yak-3 fighters. In 1945, as part of the 1st Ukrainian Front, it fights over Czechoslovakia.
