During the winter of 1939-40, the regiment operated over Finland. In June 1941 he had a base as the 145th IAP. In the far north, he defended the polar ports of Murmansk and Arkhangelsk on I-153 biplanes. T were replaced during 1941 by MiG-3 fighters. Then, in the spring of 1943, the regiment's pilots began flying Curtiss P-40B Tomahawk aircraft supplied by the Allies under a loan and lease agreement. These were replaced during the same year by a newer model P-40 Kittyhawk, but in 1943 the regiment was converted to P-39 Airacobra aircraft. In 1944, the regiment became part of the Air Defense Fighter Air Force. In the summer of 1945, he was rearmed again, this time on Yak-9 aircraft, and transferred to the D8lny East, where he participated in the fighting against the Japanese in Manchuria, within the 1st Far Eastern Front.
