The regiment was based near Odessa in June 1941. In August it moved to Leningrad, where its pilots flew LaGG-3 fighters. In the spring of 1942 it fought as part of the Volkhov Front and at the end of the war, rearmed with La-5FN fighters, over East Prussia.
