This unit operated from 1941 to 1942 over the Crimean Peninsula and then, in the summer of 1942, over the Kerch Peninsula. It was part of the 203rd Fighter Air Division. In 1943 it took part in the fighting over Kursk as part of the Steppe Front. At that time, its pilots flew La-5 fighters. This was followed by participation in operations at the 1st Ukrainian and 2nd Ukrainian Fronts. In early 1944, the regiment was in combat over the Dnieper and Dniester rivers, followed by fighting over Moldavia. In the summer of 1944 it participated in both the Yas-Kishinev and the Lvov-Sandomierz operations. Subsequently, he operated over Poland and East Germany.
