On December 21, 1918, it was established in the Baltics as the Eiserne Brigade - Iron Brigade. It was later renamed after the expansion to the Eiserne Divison. She fought on the territory of today's Latvia, along with Russian troops against the Bolsheviks, the Latvian and Estonian armies. It was surrounded by the Latvian and Estonian armies near Mitava and was saved from destruction by the Freikorps Roßbach. The remnants of the division were incorporated into the 2nd Marine-Brigade Ehrhardt.


another unit was also called the Eiserne Brigade - it later became the 1st Marine Brigade.
