This is the Romanian version of the BTR-60PB armoured personnel carrier. This machine first appeared in public in 1972.


Compared to its Soviet counterpart, however, it has a more powerful pair of engines. Another difference is the larger machine guns in the turret - it can also be fired against aerial targets. The TAB-71 is fully amphibious, propulsion in water is provided by a watermaker located at the stern. The vehicle is equipped with a central tyre inflation system.
