Mk.82 AIR

Mk.82 AIR is a bomb type HDGP. It is equipped with a tail section BSU-49/B. BSU-49/B is a tin box containing a parachute balloon brake device. After being dropped from the aircraft, a nylon parachute balloon is released by the action of aerodynamic forces from the box and inflated behind the bomb. A strange word, yes. It's just a combination of a parachute and a balloon. The pilot has the option to drop and drop the bomb without activating this device, ie with the LD.

The 500 pound caliber is common to all three. The impact lighter can be replaced by a radar-proximity lighter. This allows an air explosion.

I don't have data for Mk.82 Snakeye, they won't be very different from Mk.82 AIR. It weighs 259 kg, should contain 125 kg H-6. The BLU-111/B version was created for use on aircraft carriers, where there is a harsh environment (shocks, thermal shocks from take-off aircraft with afterburner engines). Which Mk.82 is filled with a less sensitive explosive.
