The 750-pound Puma weighs around 341 kg. The bomb's body is filled with Minol-2 explosive weighing 175 kg. Puma was used in three types:
The basic M117 was demonstrated on the Korean battlefield. It was dropped from high altitudes, LD (low-drag) configuration. With the M117R (Retarded) we can choose between a drop with high or low resistance, ie HD (high-drag) or LD. The Puma has 4 large tail braking surfaces.
The M117D (Destructor) is similar to the M117R, but is equipped with a magnetic igniter that allows the bomb to function as a mine. The M117D is crashed in an HD configuration. Allows use on both solid ground and shallows. It explodes when the lighter detects the magnetic field of an object that gets close enough.
