Blazer
Blazer is a lightweight, air transportable, the hybrid anti-aircraft system designated for destroying nízkoletících aeroplanes, helicopters or unmanned aerial vehicles. In the secondary role it can deploy against the lightly armored vehicles of the opponent.
Further development of the type of LAV-AD in cooperation of the companies Martin Marietta (now General Dynamics Armaments Systems) and Thomson-CSF (today Thales Air Defense) was created for the export of the designated PL hybrid system Blazer.
The biggest change is the installation of dvoudimenzionálního radar TRS 2630P optimized for search nízkoletících goals. Its range is 17 miles (detection planes), respectively 10 km (discovery helicopters). TRS 2360P can monitor simultaneously up to ten targets.
If it is not to search for targets possible to use a radar detector (fault, environment of a strong REB) can switch to passive mode, which is stabilized bombsight, which contains a thermal imaging system (FLIR) with a TV camera and a laser rangefinder.
The tower is as well as LAV-AD equipped with pětihlavňovým rotary cannon GAU-12/U Equalizer caliber 25 mm, which this time complements the quadruple launchers for the French PLŘS Mistral, which have a maximum remote range of 5.8 miles. their Minimum range is 1 km. The number of vezených Mistralů makes eight pieces, four of which are positioned on the launcher device and the other four are being taken in the back of the vehicle. Recycle does not take more than 5 minutes.
The crew of the vehicle consists of three persons. The driver sits in the left front of the car as well as u LAV-25. In the tower then their workplaces are the remaining members of the obsuhy - the commander and gunner. The main activities of the commander is the classification of objectives and determine the priority of their destruction, which subsequently implements the shooter.
Implemented into operational service.
