After the occupation of France by German troops, many Hotchkiss H35 tanks and its versions were captured. They became the basis of many German conversions and one of them was the conversion to an artillery tractor. It was intended to tow heavy howitzers 15 cm s.F.H. 18 and maulers 21 cm Mrs.18. The turret was removed and fuel can holders were mounted on the hull. It probably had a transom welded to the rear of the hull to which the towed cannon fitted. The hole left by the removed turret was covered with a full cloth. The number of machines so converted is unknown to me.
Similarly converted machines also served as workshop, ammunition and school vehicles.
