AN/AAQ-28(V) Litening
Producer: Rafael, Northrop/Grumann
Length: 2200 mm

Weight: 200 kg

The Litening is a navigation and targeting suspension and consists of the following systems:
1) INS (Inertial Navigation Sensor)
2) FLIR - Infrared sensor for use in low visibility and at night, which projects the acquired image onto the cockpit HUD or MFD
3) Laser illuminator - designed for marking targets and targeting laser-guided munitions
4) CCD-TV - very sensitive TV camera used for target identification in cases where FLIR cannot be used
5) LST (Laser Spot Tracker) - a laser receiver used to intercept, by another laser marker, a marked target and then guide the guided munition

The Litening has been in service since 1999 (Litening II), its upgraded modification (Litening ER) since 2001 and now the latest version (Litening AT) is being inducted into service.

It can currently be carried and used by the following aircraft: AV-8B, A-10, F-16, JAS-39, F/A-18D and B-52H.
