The project was created as part of an urgently needed program to develop new anti-aircraft tanks against fighter bombers. On the platform Pz.Kpfw.V "Panther" was to be mounted according to the initial intentions anti-aircraft set of four 20 mm cannons MG 151/20 to be located in the new company tower Rheinmetall-Borsig. Conceptual drawing HSK 82827 was presented on May 21, 1943.
The weapons were asymmetrically stored in pairs, where the upper pair of cannons was moved to the right. This was to achieve a larger shot area. The aim of the weapons was to be in the range of -5 ° + 72 °.
The project was not accepted and priority was given to the development of more effective anti-aircraft versions on the platform of the Panther tank with 3.7 cm and 5.5 cm cannons.
