Leopard 1A4
This is 250 vehicles of the sixth series. The first German tank with an integrated fire control system, consisting mainly of the FLER-HG analogue gunner's computer, the PERI-R12 stabilized panoramic commander's sight, the EMES-12A1 stabilized gunner's sight and the optical rangefinder. The shape of the turret is the same as that of the Leopard 1A3 type, the distinguishing feature being the turret of the commander's sight in front of its hatch on the turret ceiling.

Leopard 1A4 ("black 422", VPZ Y-882 485), whose first and only user became the 4th Company of Panzerbataillon 293 (4th Company of Panzer Battalion 293). The tank operated with this unit from September 1975 to September 1986. The vehicle eventually became an exhibit in the Panzermuseum Munster (photo ©Radek Havelka, summer 2009).
