NKL-16/41

The first version of the sledge, still a three-ski concept, was created by a team under the command of NM Andreyev ( N. M. Andreev) as early as 1937. After gradual modifications, the most significant of which was , serial production of the type, later designated as NKL-16/41, was started in the years 1940 - 1941. Interestingly, according to the GKO Order No. 51 of August 19, 1941 ( not new engines, but engines removed from aircraft after they took off their resources. They were already risky for operation in the aircraft, but suitable in the ground means. An improved variant NKL-16/42 has been produced since 1942. In total, it is possible to meet three designations: NKL-16 for the pre-war model, NKL-16/41 for the first war series and NKL-16/42 for the second series. The order according to the above-mentioned regulation was for 3,000 pieces of NKL-16, 1,500 pieces of NKL-26 and 500 pieces of NKL-32.

Although the NKL-16 was very numerous, it was not the only type operated. The armament also included types NKL-34 and NKL-38, staff unarmed limousines, or even older NKL-12, cargo sleds, designed to operate field airports. They carried fuel barrels, spare engines, and similar bulky items on their cargo platform. The NKL-32 combat aircraft ( НКЛ-32) were also developed, referred to as the "Mobile Fire Point" ( передвижная пулеметная установка[/i: aa) air bag on 4 skis with a wooden partially armored hull for 2 men. They had at their disposal either a heavy machine gun DSK or Berezin ( Berezin), coupled with a DT machine gun ( ДТ). The supply of ammunition was 400 pieces for heavy and 1000 pieces for light machine guns, stored in disc magazines. Depending on the quality of the road, they reached speeds of 30 - 50 km/h, and the endurance of the ride was at least 5 hours. The armor was 8 mm thick, engine M-11 F (М-11ф (reinforced = reinforced)).

There is not much information about this variant, most sources do not even differ from version to version. Therefore, more detailed information about the construction will be in the text for the model 16/42. For simplicity, it can be stated that the main recognizing element is the arrangement of the rear ski suspension - model 41 has a rear axle damper attached to the upper edge of the fuselage, model 42 has extended shock absorbers attached to the engine bed.

Regarding the image with machine gun sledges, it should be noted that this is a relatively rare image, showing the overall concept of aerosani. Most images usually show only a part of the machine, or a group in which the details are difficult to recognize. Sledges with a heavy machine gun are quite a characteristic accessory. The aerosols were modified to be able to carry bulkier and heavier loads on the sleigh. The transport capacity of the unit has thus increased significantly. According to Russian sources, it was even possible to pull a significant number of skiers (sources state 18-20) on a specially modified rope behind each vehicle, which accelerated the movement of units.

Little doozy from soviet sources NKL-16 on a wheeled chassis and something of the shots of "classic" machines on the lyžovém chassis.
