CHN - YJ-6 / YJ-61 (C-601 / C-611, CAS-1 "Kraken")

YingJi-6, "Attacking Eagle" YJ-6 (C-601, NATO code CAS-1 "Kraken") - the first guided anti-ship missile of Chinese origin fired from aircraft. Developed from an onboard guided anti-ship missile HY-2 (C-201). The rocket is powered by a liquid-fuel rocket engine and is radar-guided. Used on naval bombers H-6D. In addition to the basic version, the armament also has a modernized version YJ-61 (C-611) developed in the mid-90s of the 20th century. Based on this missile, a high-precision anti-ground missile KD-63 is being developed. In the future, it is planned to replace the missiles YJ-6 with new anti-ship missiles YJ-8K/YJ- 82K.

The Air Anti-Ship Missile YJ-6 was developed by the 3rd Beijing Space Academy ( 3rd Space Academy, now China Haiying Electro- Mechanical Technology Academy, CHETA) since 1966. The basis for the development was an anti-ship missile powered by a rocket engine HY-2 (C-201), the Chinese version of the Soviet anti-ship missiles SS-N-2 "Styx". The development of the missile was interrupted during the "Cultural Revolution" in China and resumed in 1975. Since 1977, the carrier of this anti-ship missile, the bomber, was also in development H-6D, created by modification of the bomber H-6A (Chinese copy of the Soviet bomber Tu-16 "Badger".

During the development of the missile, new technologies hitherto not used in China were used - radar search of the target with resistance to interference, digital control system, Doppler radar, inertial guidance. Development of a fire control system for a bomber H-6D was completed in 1979. During tests conducted until 1982, it was verified that the radar on board the bomber is able to aim a surface target from a height of 1000 m - 9000 m. . During the final tests of the new missile in 1984, four of the seven missiles fired confirmed four hits. Bomber H-6D and anti-ship missile YJ-6 are in service PLANAF established since 1986.

YJ-6 is China's first airborne anti-ship missile. Its 500 kg explosive warhead is capable of sinking or seriously damaging a battleship with a displacement of more than 3,000 tons, or a cargo ship with a displacement of 10,000 tons. php/t/39735] H-6D[/url] with a range of 1800 ~ 2000 km. Each bomber H-6D can carry two anti-ship missiles on hangers under the wings. Upgraded version YJ-61 ( C-611) uses a more efficient oxidizer and has an improved engine, thus achieving a range extension of up to 180 ~ 200km .

In appearance, the rocket YJ-6 is very similar to the rocket HY-2, except for the solid-fuel rocket engine, which YJ-6 as a shot fired in flight does not need. The rocket has a round forehead and a short wide fuselage. In the middle of the fuselage are fixed wings, in the rear there are three control surfaces.

The disadvantage of the rocket is the relatively high demands on the ground service system and the long pre-flight preparation time, as the rocket is powered by liquid rocket fuel.

Usage:
A typical anti-ship mission takes place so that the bomber H-6D with its on-board radar Type 245 locates and targets the level target (at a distance of 100 ~ 150 km), approaches the target at a distance of 50 ~ 100 km, where the rocket is fired. Subsequently, the bomber detaches from the target and flies away. The anti-ship missile is inertially guided into the target area at a preset height of 200 m, 70 m, or 50 m. In the final phase of the flight, the aiming mono-pulse radar is activated, which ensures the guidance of the missile to the target. The radar is resistant to reflections from sea waves and various types of radio interference.
