– intelligence officer

Karel Mountain was born in Yokohama, the father was at that time a representative of the firm Mannesmann und Cie in Düsseldorf, the mother came from a distinguished family in Osaka, in the summer of 1911, the whole family returned to the Czech republic and for a year she traveled again to Japan. Here is my father's business led to China. Lived in the international settlement in Shanghai, in a villa with servants. Here also the young Charles Mountain attended the German Kaiser Wilhelm Schule. In 1917, sailed family to San Francisco and from there went to New York. At Christmas of the same year, took refuge finally in Poděbrady.

After the coup 28. October, 1918, he was sent on a study of the real grammar school in Prague on George square, later on reálku in Nymburk. After the end of the studies, led by Karel adventurous life in Berlin at the film company UFA. He was determined to go to the US, but his intent ended in Rotterdam infamously, he was out of here, police reported. Returning home created a problem with the onset of compulsory military service. Soon followed the school of reserve officers in Košice and the military life he endeared. The service ended as a lieutenant.

In 1933, his father returned from the Far east and after a few adventurous extempore sent his son on an experience in Ecuador. Here, in 1934 he married with basque beauty Leonora, and founded a trading company. In 1936 he came back to Czechoslovakia and founded a new trading company. He went again to Ecuador, but after a family crisis, decided to definitively return home. At sea, when he was half way to Europe, he found out that Hitler invaded the rest of his homeland. He never came home. 2. April 1939 arrived in Marseille and 4. April was standing with a small suitcase in his hand in front of the fortress of st. John – the entrance gate of applicants for service in the French foreign legion. Baptism of fire suffered for the harsh winter in February 1940 on the positions of the front of just two players left for the line at the Metzevisse. Followed the injury, transport to Sidi – bel - Abbés, escape through Spain to England, the appointment of lieutenant in the army of the Free France under the command of general de Gaulle, to whom he was personally introduced to 10. September 1943. The fighting in north Africa. Again in the ranks of the Foreign legion. War wounds and honours. The victorious campaign in Europe – 8. may 1945 armistice. In Paris are already talking about a new war in the Far east. The mountain was about to go voluntarily into Indochina. He missed the Foreign legion, after the life of the legionaries. Finally, he asked the French government about demobilisation and repatriation.

30. June 1945 landed at the airport in Prague. He became staff captain of the czechoslovak army and began to study at the high war school. He graduated from the seven-month course at the École militaire in Paris. He married again. Followed by "audience" with the general OBZ Reicina and the hunt for witches in the form of soldiers of foreign armies. Escape from Czechoslovakia in February 1948. Return to the "capital" of the Foreign legion in Sidi-bel-Abbés. Service in Indochina in the years 1949 – 1952. Participation in the fighting in Korea in the ranks of the volunteer section 1952 – 1954. During the war vacations of the year 1953 he visited the Charles Mountain in his native Japan. Again in the ranks of the Legion, this time for fighting about Algeria 1954-1961.

Demobilisován was in the rank of major. Not always happy life of the entrepreneur in the construction industry. Sadness over the fate of the Foreign legion and the old country after the dramatic year of 1968. Never, however, didn't compromise himself or his principles, worthy of the japanese samurai or the european knight..

2 Michal Šimůnek:

www.specnaz.cz or is the similarity purely coincidental?! What about a source - for example Karel Hora: My Mother the Foreign Legion, Elka press 1993...

Michal, I would ask you for the following :

1) We have agreed in the rules that since I think last September it is obligatory to indicate the sources of each factual contribution. This is for several reasons, the main ones being the possibility to verify the data, to direct the reader to further reading in a given area and to comply with the copyright law.

2) point two is related to this, we cannot under any circumstances post verbatim copies of books on the board or anywhere else unless we have permission from the author of the publication in question to do so. This exposes valka.cz and the author of the post to the possibility of legal action for copyright infringement, which none of us want. My colleagues before me have pointed this out, and it also applies to some other contributions.

So I would ask you if you could go through your submissions and bring them into compliance with these two rules, or if you need to contact me to see what exactly to do about it, or if you need help with something.

Thanks.

..And nothing right. I'm asking whether anybody has anything else. The price doesn't seem somehow exorbitant. If this book you're selling cheaper probably has it every other and will be completely normal, so like her I'll buy.).
