ZAREVO

10/7/1944

The ZAREVO group from the USSR was stationed near Banská Bystrica. The Czechoslovak representatives were Chief of Staff Vladimír František Kadlec (January 15, 1924) and Baker Vladimír František Samek (November 12, 1921). The group penetrated Moravia, the Zlín area, and later the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands (Tišnov - Žďár - Cikháj - Fryšava). In the last days of the war, Kadlec was severely wounded and treated in a hospital in Nové Město na Moravě. After the war he lived in the USSR. On December 21, 1944, Samek was severely wounded near Krasnice, captured and imprisoned until the end of the war.

The drop-off point was the Tri Duby airfield, where the ZAREVO group flew in from a field airfield near Lvov.

The chief of staff is also listed as Vladimir Francevich Kadlec. Born in the village of Bober in the Kiev region as the son of an Austro-Hungarian soldier of Czech origin (from Wallachia) who settled there after World War I. He was wounded on 09.05.1945 in the battle at Fryšava.

František Samek was not an original member of the ZAREVO detachment, he joined the group after the battle at Erdůdka on 02.11.1944, when he broke away from the partisan detachment STALIN, which had been advancing together with the ZAREVO detachment until then. In the battle in the village of Krasnice (in the Iron Mountains) he suffered a gunshot wound to his shoulder and leg; wounded and captured together with him was Ch. Ch. "Nikolai" Khabiev, Valery Yevgenyevich Bukin, Alexander Ivanovich Danilov, Oleg Vasilyevich Ostash and Mikhail Ivanovich Balakirev were killed in the battle.
