He came from the south bohemian zemanského of the family, fought in the army of the urban union, after the battle of Lipany in may 1434, he was hired as a governor in the Czech lands and abroad. From the year 1440, he worked in the Hungarian kingdom in the army of of John Sparks of Brandys, 1450, he was appointed commander of the castle Plaveč.

From the year 1453 was building a military organization bratříků in Upper Hungary, stood at the head of bratřického movement in abovské, šarišské, spišská and zemplínska county, was recognized for the supreme governor of the bratřického troops. He managed to keep bratřickou dominance over the Upper Uhrami until the death of the Czech and Hungarian king Ladislav VI.
