Főhadnagy Béla 'Böbe' Csekme


Béla Csekme was born in Zabola in 1906.


He served with the 1/1st "Íjász" vadászszázad's operating on the Fiat CR.32 from Ungvar airfield during border clashes with Slovakia in spring 1939. In combat with the 45th Squadron, he claimed one kill Avia B 534. For this feat, he was awarded the Magyar Érdemrend Tisztikeresztje hadidíszítménnyel és kardokkal (Hungarian Officer's Cross of Merit).
During WWII, he served as a commanding instructor of the fighter school.


Died in Sydney in June 1955.
