Caproni Ca.101

History:
The aircraft was designed in 1927 by Gianni Caproni as a transport for eight passengers. It was a strut upper plane with an all-steel skeleton, which was covered with canvas. Three Armstrong Siddeley Lynx engines with an output of 200 horsepower were used for propulsion. The civilian was not found by the aircraft, but he liked the air force, which liked the robust construction and the possibility of multipurpose use. It subsequently ordered two versions from Caproni. Heavy night bomber, which was powered by Piaggio Stella VII engines, armed with three machine guns and hijacked 800 kg of bombs, and the so-called colonial, multi-purpose, which flew often unarmed and designed mainly for transport and reconnaissance. These aircraft first powered the Czechoslovak. Walter Castor engines with an output of 176 kW (240 hp), later domestic Alfa Romeo Dux after 198 kW (270 hp). Both versions were built in approximately the same number and reliably served in the Italian Air Force.
In 1933, one aircraft took a flight with six passengers without a stopover from Rome to Moscow, but they became most "famous" for their participation in the attack on Abyssinia in 1935, where they were used mainly as bombers. Most of the aircraft then remained in the area, now known as Italian East Africa, and were used, mainly as transport, as long as there were spare parts for them.
